Power Automate agent for virtual desktops (Preview) is a lightweight companion app that connects virtual desktop sessions to Power Automate so you can run and orchestrate desktop flows in VDI environments. It’s designed for pooled or non-persistent virtual desktops—such as Azure Virtual Desktop or other VDI solutions—where machines are recreated frequently. The agent securely registers each user session with the Power Automate service, enabling flows to be triggered from the cloud or launched within the session, with run status and logs reported back to your environment.

Key capabilities:

• Makes desktop flows usable on non-persistent virtual desktops by registering the active user session as an available machine.
• Uses secure, outbound-only connectivity to the Power Automate service; no inbound firewall changes are typically needed.
• Honors your Power Automate governance, including environments, policies, and run history/monitoring.
• Helps scale attended RPA and back-office automations across virtual desktop pools.

• This is a Preview release; features may change and suitability for production use can be limited.
• Requires a Power Automate license that includes desktop flows and appropriate permissions in your tenant.
• Supported on Windows virtual desktops with internet access and the ability to install and run user-mode agents.
